I began learning about tides, bait and fishing in general, growing up in the low country waters of Georgia and South Carolina. Calibogue and Wassaw Sounds were my backyard and left me with a deep appreciation of the barrier islands, coastal ecology and the abundant richness of life in and around estuaries.
I live in an equally beautiful place now and enjoy salt water fly fishing year round. Right now the Coho salmon are making their way back to the rivers and estuaries in Puget Sound. These vigorous feeders can be caught on a fly rod right off many local beaches.
